Bio

Hello. I am a mother, high school teacher and adjunct professor. I'm from Alabama but now live in Virginia outside the DC metro.

I Believe

I believe that every human is a unique person needing compassion, understanding and a safe environment to express thoughts, grow and mature intellectually while learning. It is my goal as an educator to bring out the strengths of each individual student though respect for diversity, fairness, honesty, compassion and expectations. I believe in the facilitative, Socratic method of educating; leading each student to find their own truth, knowledge and curiosity through guidance. I believe in the statement by Larry Bell, “On your worst day on the job, you are still some child’s best hope!”

I Believe

I believe it is the teacher’s role to provide guidance, support curiosity, and critical thinking skills in their students. I believe that all students can learn and set high expectations for success. I believe in the continuous and positive affirmation of my belief and faith in my students’ abilities.

I Believe

I believe in modeling and developing empathy and respect for the students in themselves, others and the world they live in. I believe that teaching students to be dedicated, compassionate, strong individuals is as equally important as the content of the classroom. I believe in using curriculum and interactive projects that foster self-discovery and the interests of the students. I believe in giving students the opportunity to have input, ideas, goals and ownership of their education.
